This goes without saying, but I think its always good to get in writing :tehe:
- Be supportive of your fellow competitors and other members!
- The world is a cruel place, so do your best to show kindness in every interaction here in the server
- If you feel off about something, just let Waffo know!
- No Racism / Sexism / Bigotry / etc
- Your own life always takes first priority
- If something comes up, let us know! We will bend over backwards (and then some) to accommodate whatever happens! (rule 1 goes both ways!)
- Utilize your practice chat to communicate with staff directly!
- Never feel bad for re-scheduling a practice, the sooner we know the better!
- Don't feel bad about missing messages
- Staff may ping you multiple times, but they're just keeping deadlines moving and to check in if you need any help/ clarification!
- But PLEASE make sure you get notifs in your practice channel and announcements if nothing else.
- Q: Can I talk about my team on stream
- Please do! We encourage our competitors to engage with their communities to drum up excitement about the event!
- Q: How much practice should I do?
- As much as you'd like! Our coaches are here to train you as much or as little as you'd like! Ideally you should be comfortable with the following:
- Weaknesses and Resistances
- Weather / Terrain / Status Conditions
- General strategy & “game sense”
- Learning from losses
- Once you have you team locked in, and you are confident in how to pilot it in different scenarios, you should be good!
- Q: What does the team building process look like?
- Tell us what your favorite Pokemon are
- Coaches build and present possible drafts
- Practice with drafts and review performance
- Refine and repeat steps 2 and 3 until satisfied
- Lock in teams
- Q: How much should I research my opponents team?
- We encourage players to prepare how they want BUT we
- Avoid running damage calculations (not everyone knows how to do this and we want to keep things fair)
- Do not attempt to determine the EVs of your opponents
- This includes going through their VODs, but you can watch after the event!
- Avoid specific strategy advice from viewers / friends
- Be kind to your fellow competitors! Lose / win with grace!
- Take Care of yourself!
- Have easy access to food & water
- Take breaks when you want to! You are not required to be present for the entire event, just your matches!
- Do not have any event streams running while in your match,
- We want to see you focused on your match, not chat!
- Ensure staff can reach you during the event, turn of streamer mode if relevant!
- Issues pop up out of nowhere! This includes technical difficulties, schedule changes, or anything really! We'll reach out to you if anything comes up!
You did it! Congrats!
